Did you know that Hibiscus belong to the same family as cocoa and cotton? Beautiful Hibiscus flowers come in different colours and shades but the red Hibiscus is particularly popular for its various health benefits and it’s tart, distinct flavor. Ornametally it’s a beautiful addition to any garden or landscape.

Spiritually, hibiscus flowers are attributed to beauty and charm. The red Hibiscus is associated with attracting love.
The flower itself is very high in antioxidants and is used widely in skincare and hair care. The flowers are usually dried and then steeped in hot water to release the nutrients and deep red colour. They are also dried and crushed and used in powder form for hair masks and other cosmetic products.

I’ve tried making some hibiscus soap once and it was lovely. I might just try another batch sometime soon, especially since we now have so many hibiscus flowers in our garden.
